Our leisurely short break begins with flights to Hervey Bay. On arrival we will transfer to our Hervey Bay accommodation. The afternoon is at leisure before we come together for fellowship and our first group dinner.

Overnight: Hervey Bay

After breakfast this morning we will be picked up from our accommodation and transferred to the Hervey Bay Museum. The area along the Fraser Coast that has become known as Hervey Bay has a rich history dating back to before Captain Cook first sailed up the east coast of Australia.

This area is now a major tourist attraction but in the 19th Century and early 20th Century things were very different. Life was tough and to survive here settlers needed to be resourceful and prepared to face challenges that are almost unimaginable in this day and age. The Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum has managed to preserve some of that early history and now you can walk through the museum that covers 1.2 hectares and explore 21 buildings and around 12,000 items, both large and small from those early days. Take part in interactive demonstrations of some of the skills those early settlers needed to survive in what was a harsh and untamed environment and discover what life was like for the people who settled the area.

We will be transferred to River Heads for a gorgeous ferry ride to our destination, Fraser Island.

Lying just south of the Great Barrier Reef the Fraser Island World Heritage wilderness area stretches over 123 kilometres. The world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island has spectacular beaches and huge sand blows yet supports ancient rainforests with rare plants growing in sand. The island also has over 100 freshwater lakes and clear flowing streams that attract many birds.

We will be staying at the 4-Star Kingfisher Bay Eco-Resort. Check-in, unpack and get ready to enjoy the same royal treatment! Tonight, we will join together for a three-course dinner at the resort.

After breakfast we will enjoy a private half-day tour of the island. The tour will take us to many attractions including Lake MacKenzie, Central Station and Wanggoolba, before returning to the resort for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure. Whether you wish to relax with a book or take a stroll, the afternoon is yours to enjoy before we come together for another delicious three-course dinner at the resort.

Today, we will enjoy a fascinating Ranger Guided Bush Medicine Walk where we will discover the plants and berries that were used by the Aboriginal tribes for medicinal purposes. We will then return to the resort for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure before a Bush Tucker and Taste experience.

Overnight: Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island

We embark on a Scenic Cruise to explore this stunning World Heritage Island from the pristine waterways. We will enjoy some light refreshments aboard the vessel whilst we cruise before heading back to the resort for lunch and the afternoon at leisure.

Late afternoon we will gather for sunset drinks and our final three-course dinner together.

After breakfast this morning we will return to Hervey Bay by ferry for our flights home after a wonderfully relaxing holiday with like-minded Christians and new friends.
