Our adventure begins when we fly to Australia’s Red Centre. We arrive at Yulara, situated just outside Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, for an afternoon check-in. Before dinner we will visit the Rock to take in the incredible colours of an Outback sunset: a moving and memorable experience. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner in a truly wonderful part of the world.
Today is a very special day: we’re up before dawn for the drive into the area reserved for specialist sunrise viewing (wear plenty of warm clothes). After the glory of sunrise at Uluru, we’ll return to our hotel for breakfast and some free time in the Yulara village. Make use of the free shuttle bus which operates throughout the village before we join together for a group lunch. After lunch, our drive will take us to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) where there is a chance to walk into a part of this amazing geological feature, returning to the sunset viewing spot for sunset at Uluru.
Optional flights: You may elect to enjoy a flight around Kata Tjuta by helicopter or Uluru by fixed wing aircraft.
Enjoy a morning at leisure – there are numerous free cultural activities available to learn more about this incredible region and its indigenous people. Take a guided or self-guided garden walk through the native gardens. Join a bush yarn at the Circle of Sand with a local Aboriginal storyteller and learn about weapons or bush tucker. Pay a visit to Wintjiri Arts + Museum showcasing local Anangu products, watch artists at work and learn more about the region’s history, geology, flora and fauna in the museum’s display. Or browse the many art pieces at the Resort's art galleries and support local Mutitjulu artists. Choose from many of the Resort’s dining options with lunch today at your own choice and cost. Departing Uluru, we will fly to the tropical city of Cairns, where we will be transferred to beautiful Port Douglas.
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living thing on Earth, a 2,300km- long ecosystem that is even visible from outer space. We travel with Quicksilver Cruises out to the magnificent Agincourt Reef, a ribbon reef on the very outer edge of the Barrier Reef. Adjacent to the Coral Sea trench, ribbon reefs are recognised as the most pristine eco-systems in the reef’s environment. Clear water provides the best possible underwater visibility, encourages rich coral growth and supports spectacular marine life.
Choose to snorkel or explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver semi-sub, just one meter underwater. Watch the fish feeding from Quicksilver’s unique underwater viewing platform and underwater observatory. So many incredible sights, so many incredible memories!
Enjoy Sunday morning worship and fellowship with the locals before we drive to magnificent Mossman Gorge, part of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. The Daintree is a part of the largest continuous area of tropical rainforest on the Australian continent and is considered a “must-do” when holidaying in Far North Queensland. After lunch we will be on the lookout for crocodiles during our Daintree River Cruise. Soak up the sights and sounds of the rainforest over Afternoon Tea at the Treehouse Restaurant before returning to Port Douglas. What a glorious way to spend a Sunday, surrounded by the natural wonder of God’s Creation.
Start your day with an interactive wildlife experience at Wildlife Habitat when we “Breakfast with the Birds”. Spend time with some of Australia’s iconic fauna – enjoy an opportunity to cuddle a koala or hand-feed kangaroos. See the endangered Southern Cassowary and Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo as well as meet pythons and crocodiles and lots more.
We take you into Port Douglas for some well-deserved time at leisure. Macrossan Street is Port’s main street and is better known as the “Strip”; met by both ocean and inlet, the Strip spans across the entire peninsula and offers many retail shops and 50 cafes and restaurants from which you can choose to dine (lunch at own choice and cost). Take a walk along beautiful Four Mile Beach where azure waters meet the golden sands – magic!
Early afternoon we will transfer to Cairns airport for our return flights back home having concluded a truly marvellous Australian holiday. We give thanks to God for the wonders we have seen, the experiences we have enjoyed and the people we have shared them with. Our journey may be at an end, but we will have so many beautiful memories to treasure.
