4 NIGHTS (L) (D)
Our relaxing Christmas holiday begins with a tour of the Mt Annan Botanical Gardens. Officially opened by the Duke and Dutchess of York in 1988, the garden was New South Wales’ final Bicentennial Project. The garden showcases around 4000 species of Australian native plants and is part of the Royal Botanic Garden and Domain Trust, and home to the Australian PlantBank, a major scientific research and conservation centre for the flora of NSW.
After a delicious lunch we travel down the Old Hume Highway to Thirlmere and the NSW Rail Museum.
“All aboard” for a trip down memory lane as we view the amazing collection of historic locomotives and railway rolling stock.
Thirlmere, like many towns, was born with the coming of the Great Southern Railway in 1863 to 1867, when a large temporary tent city grew up to house the railway workers. It was valued for its proximity to Thirlmere Lakes, which provided water for the steam trains.
The water was pumped to a siding at the nearby town of Couridjah. The Thirlmere section of the Main Southern Railway was deviated in 1919 to a less steep alignment with easier grades.
Our destination today is the beautiful Southern Highlands; this region is very historic and the various villages offer some good examples of fine Colonial architecture and sandstone buildings.
We check in to Peppers Craigiburn, our stylish, 4-Star hotel in Bowral, where we can relax before coming together in fellowship for our first group dinner at this very special resort.
Today is Christmas Eve and we will spend the morning in beautiful Bowral, the embodiment of Southern Highlands charm. Bowral is a great place to wander with many cafes, boutiques, treasure troves, galleries and places to find the latest fashions and designer homewares.
Treat yourself to a tea or coffee, or a special little something – It’s Christmas after all!
No visit to Bowral would be complete without a visit to the wonderful Bradman Museum which celebrates the town’s most beloved son, and Australia’s most famous cricketer, Sir Donald Bradman. The Bradman Museum was originally housed in his boyhood home but today it has moved having morphed into the International Cricket Hall of Fame. With interactive displays, videos and many historic displays this dynamic museum is worth visiting even if you are not a big cricket fan – come and explore the sound of summer’s past.
We travel the short distance to Berrima, one of Australia’s best-preserved Georgian villages.
You will have time to explore and enjoy looking through the historic buildings that house galleries and shops selling antiques and old wares, arts and crafts.
The MUST-SEE buildings are the imposing Berrima Court House, built of sandstone in a classical Greek style, and the Surveyor General, Australia’s oldest continuously running licensed Inn.
Return with a scenic drive through green rolling hills and various “Highlands” villages including Moss Vale and Sutton Forest, once the very outer limits of the colony when it was settled by white pastoralists in the 1820s.
Lights, carols, connection! As a fun way to celebrate Christmas Eve we will go out after dinner in search of the streets best known for their Christmas Lights.
Only one more sleep!

Christmas Morning and a time to rejoice in Christ’s Birth; this morning we will visit a local church to enjoy a Christmas Day Service together.
After worship it’s time for presents – don’t worry about buying anything, you will find gifts under the tree. A very Happy Christmas to you!
Enjoy being part of the CFT Family celebrating this blessed time together as we share a delicious Christmas Day lunch at Peppers Manor House; the Manor House is Pepper’s sister resort located in nearby Sutton Gardens and it exudes old world charm.
After lunch we will return to Craigieburn House where you may wish to enjoy time by the pool (or in the pool!) or, alternatively, take a scenic drive to Fitzroy Falls.
After our big Christmas Lunch, we will enjoy a light dinner together at the Resort. What a wonderful way to spend such a special day – faith, fellowship, friendship & fun is what a CFT Family Christmas is all about.

Enjoy a relaxing Boxing Day with a scenic drive to nearby Goulburn, a proud historic town combining grand heritage and country charm. Goulburn’s wealth was generated by pastoralists and their huge flocks of sheep so we will make sure to say “How are Ewe?” to Goulburn’s Big Merino; known to locals as “Rambo” this is one of Australia’s iconic ‘big things’ and symbolic of the city known as the fine wool capital of the world.
We will explore Goulburn’s beautifully preserved history on a driving tour of the historic Court House, Post Office, St Saviour’s Anglican Cathedral and the St Peter & St Paul’s Old Catholic Cathedral.
For a beautiful panorama of the town we will head to the tower lookout at the Rocky Hill War Memorial before we visit Goulburn Historic Waterworks Museum. Set on the banks of the picturesque Wollondilly River this rare facility is the only complete, steam powered municipal water supply left in its original location, in the Southern Hemisphere. The buildings and engine are both State Heritage and National Trust listed. A scenic drive via the charming village of Bundanoon takes us “home” to Craigieburn.
Time to farewell our beautiful country retreat and return homeward via Robertson; our scenic drive takes us to the South Coast, hugging the coastline and stopping at Shellharbour and Bulli Beach for lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
We then follow Grand Pacific Drive along the coast which includes the amazing Seacliff Bridge, and then through the Royal National Park, Australia’s first National Park, on our way back into Sydney.
We have been blessed to share this very special Christmas celebration with new friends and can return home with full hearts and many wonderful memories.
