TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1
Monday 5th April 2021
Depart Australia

Our wonderful Biblical adventure begins as we fly to Israel, transiting through Hong Kong (overnight inflight).

DAY 2
Tuesday 6th April 2021
Tel Aviv - Jaffa

We arrive in Tel Aviv, Israel’s capital, where we will meet our local host and be transferred to our hotel to refresh. In the afternoon we will travel to ancient Jaffa, the town where the disciple Tabitha was healed by St Peter (Acts 9:36), a miracle that converted many locals to Christianity. Tonight, we will share a Welcome Dinner and get to know each other.

Overnight: Tel Aviv

DAY 3
Wednesday 7th April 2021
Caesarea - Mount Carmel - Nazareth Village

Today we travel to Caesarea, an important link for non-Jewish people
(Gentiles) to the Bible Story before stopping by Mount Carmel where the
prophet Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal. This area is also important
for Deborah, one of the Bible’s most outstanding figures (Judges 4–5).
Referred to by some as the “Mother of Israel” Deborah served ancient
Israel with compassion and wisdom as a prophet, judge and military
leader and is celebrated as a songwriter and minstrel for the Song of
Deborah, one of the oldest passages of the Bible.
This afternoon we step back in time at the Nazareth Biblical Village, a living museum that depicts the lifestyle and times of Jesus’ childhood home. Learn more about how women of the Bible would have lived and worked before we drive to our accommodation on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.

Overnight: Tiberias

DAY 4
Thursday 8th April 2021
Hike Tel Dan - Banias - Caesarea Philippi

A day of wonderful experiences that take us off the tourist track and connects us more closely with the Biblical landscape. This morning we will enjoy a gentle hike through the beautiful Tel Dan Nature Reserve, considered one of the most important archaeological and historical sites in Israel. The ancient remains of the 5000-year-old Biblical city of Dan were uncovered here and the combination of this incredible history with the reserve’s lush foliage and many waterfalls and wading pools make it a popular local destination. The Dan River is the most important source of the River Jordan and this afternoon we will get the opportunity to kayak along these famous waters.

We also visit the nearby Banias Springs and the ruins of the Roman town of Caesarea Philippi. It was here in the Banias that the disciple Simon informed Jesus that people believed Jesus to be the Messiah. In response, Jesus renamed Simon “Peter,” which means “rock” in Greek — the rock upon which his church would be founded. This is a pivotal moment in the early history of Christianity, and we will be in the actual location where it happened!

Overnight: Tiberias

DAY 5
Friday 9th April 2021
Sea of Galilee - Jesus' Ministry - Masada

Today we are following in the footsteps of Jesus and visit many sites important to Jesus’ life and ministry. Our first stop is Magdala, the hometown of Mary Magdalene who was one of Jesus’ earliest and closest followers, supporting him with her own means (Luke 8). A witness to his crucifixion and burial, it was also Mary Magdalene that Jesus first appeared after his Resurrection, instructing her to tell His disciples of His
return (John 20:1-13).

In Magdala we visit the glorious Women’s Atrium, a church dedicated to the female followers of Christ. The structure of the church is symbolically held up by eight pillars, seven of which represent women in the Bible who followed Jesus, whilst the eighth honours women of faith across all time. We will then travel to nearby Capernaum, the centre of Jesus’ activities in the Galilee region. It is here that a bleeding woman was healed by her faith in Him (Mark 5:25-34); transformed from being “ritually unclean” she was given back her life. A short stop in Tabgha, the site of the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes, before we visit St Peter’s Primacy where Jesus appeared to Peter and other disciples after his resurrection. We then travel to Mount Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount before we take a late afternoon boat trip on the Sea of Galilee. Watch the sun set over the water and join together with other women as we express our joy with onboard singing and dancing.

Overnight: Tiberias

DAY 6
Saturday 10th April 2021
Dead Sea Scrolls - Masada - Dead Sea

We head south today through the Jordan River valley to our first stop, Qumran. It was here that the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered; these 981 texts were found in eleven different caves and are believed to date from between 300 BC and 100 AD.

We make a short stop at the Springs of Ein Gedi, the place where David hid from King Saul, before we drive up to the UNESCO heritage – listed fortress of Masada. Whilst King Herod built the fortress as a testimony to his own power, it is remembered today as a symbol of the Jewish desire for freedom and where the Zealots battled the might of Rome. To the east of Masada one can see the mountains of Moab (Jordan), where Naomi and Ruth set off on their journey to Bethlehem, travelling past the Dead Sea. Today, the banks of the Dead Sea are more than 400m below sea level, the lowest point on dry land. Its famously hypersaline water makes floating easy and its mineral rich black mud is used for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments. Relax at our accommodation on the Dead Sea where you can swim (or really float) in the resorts own saltwater pools.

Overnight: Dead Sea Resort

DAY 7
Sunday 11th April 2021
Tombs of the Patriarchs - Bethlehem - Jerusalem

Before leaving this morning, we will have a last chance to enjoy the waters of the Dead Sea before leaving for the overland drive to Hebron. Hebron is an important dig down into the history of the Israelites and it is also the home of the Tombs of the Patriarchs, the burial place of three biblical couples – Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, and Jacob and Leah.

We travel on to Bethlehem, the birthplace of our Saviour, where we visit the Church of the Nativity. At the Field of Boaz we remember the courage, loyalty, kindness and faithfulness of Ruth who left her homeland to accompany Naomi back to Bethlehem – “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” (Ruth 1:16). Ruth continues to be one of the Bible’s most beloved female figures, famed for her own deeds as well as being the great grandmother of King David. At Shepherds’ Fields we take time for our own worship service – what a memorable place to be on a Sunday!
Moving towards Jerusalem, we stop at the Tomb of Rachel – Jacob’s beloved Rachel – before entering the Holy City.

Overnight: Jerusalem

DAY 8
Monday 12th April 2021
Jerusalem - Jesus' Footsteps

A day of wonderful sightseeing awaits. We first travel the Mount of Olives to look across to Jerusalem before visiting the Chapel of the Ascension and the Church of the Pater Noster, the site on which Jesus taught his disciples the Lord’s Prayer. Together we will walk the Palm Sunday Path and visit the little teardrop shaped Church of Dominus Flevit, recalling the Gospel incident when Jesus wept over the future fate of Jerusalem.

We will visit the Garden of Gethsemane where our Lord prayed, and his disciples slept the night before his crucifixion. The Basilica of Agony enshrines a section of the bedrock where Jesus prayed before his arrest. Be transported back in time when we visit the Western Wall and the tunnels that lie beneath the old city. The Western Wall of the Temple Mount is one of the most magnificent and significant remnants in Jerusalem from the days of the Second Temple, destroyed approximately 2,000 years ago.

Overnight: Jerusalem

DAY 9
Tuesday 13th April 2021
Jerusalem Sightseeing - Time at Leisure

We learn more about the history of this fascinating and ancient city, and the women who lived in it, when we visit the Israel Museum. See a model of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus, the Dead Sea Scrolls in the Shrine of the Book and visit the Holocaust Memorial. Step back in time as we explore the Old City including the Lion’s Gate and the Pools of Bethesda also visiting the nearby Church of St Anne, the best-preserved Crusader church in Jerusalem. Dating from 450 A.D it marks the traditional site of the home of Jesus’ maternal grandparents, Anne and Joachim, and the birthplace of the Virgin Mary. We follow the Stations of the Cross on the Via Dolorosa, stopping at the Ecco Homo, home of the Sisters of Zion. Be inspired by Christendom’s holiest of sites, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the site of Jesus’ crucifixion as well as his resurrection. Within the church are 30 plus chapels of various denominations, many dedicated to women of faith and amongst these is the Armenian Station of the Holy Women which commemorates Jesus’ mother and her companions who viewed the crucifixion. From here we go on to Mount Zion where we marvel at the Cenacle or “Upper Room”, the site of the Last Supper, and visit King David’s Tomb.

This afternoon enjoy some time at leisure to further explore this incredible, ancient city.

Overnight: Jerusalem

DAY 10
Wednesday 14th April 2021
Yad Hashmona - Ein Kerem

We leave the city behind as we travel to the Moshav of Yad Hashmona. Surrounded by beautiful views of the evergreen Judean Hills and the Mediterranean coastal plain the Moshav is also home to the unique Biblical Garden; as well as a variety of biblical plants and trees the garden displays include an ancient wine press, an olive oil press, a mikve (ritual bath), a burial cave, an agricultural watchtower, a Galilean-type synagogue and a Bedouin tent. We have included a guided tour of the garden as well as “Jesus Passover Experience – A Biblical Meal” so we can gain greater insight into the day to day life in Biblical times.

We visit the nearby Biblical site of Emmaus where Jesus appeared to His two disciples after his Resurrection – “Then their eyes were open and they recognized him” Luke :24:31.

Our day ends in the picturesque village of Ein Kerem, the birthplace of John the Baptist. Here we also visit one of the Holy Land’s most beautifully decorated churches – Church of the Visitation – which celebrates Ein Kerem’s connection with two of the most important women in the Bible, the Virgin Mary and her cousin Elizabeth, mother of John. Women of great faith, they are examples to us all.

A most spiritually moving conclusion to our day when we share communion and worship at the Garden Tomb.
