Home - Forster

Join with like-minded people to celebrate our faith amidst the beauty of the Myall Lakes National Park. We leave Sydney and our cares behind as we head north driving across the picturesque Hawkesbury River and briefly alongside the Hunter River, just north of Newcastle.

We drop into the Mortel’s Sheepskin Factory for delicious lunch and a tour – learn how Australia’s iconic Ugg Boots are created.

A scenic afternoon journey via the Lakes Way brings us to the delightful seaside town of Forster where we will check into our hotel and relax. Tonight, we will come together for a Welcome Dinner where we can get to know our fellow passengers.

Overnight: The Dorsal Boutique Hotel, Forster

Mid North Coast Connection – Departing from Port Macquarie we will travel South via Nabiac, Wootton, Bulahdelah, then Lakes Way back to Forster.

Day 2
Saturday 24th April 2021

Wallis Lake - Coolongolook & Wallambia Rivers Coomba Park - Pacific palms - Bulahdelah

This morning we board ‘Spirit II’ and begin our exploration of the Myall Lakes National Park, an area covering almost 450 sq. km in total. The National Park incorporates a patchwork of freshwater lakes, the ocean, islands, native flora, dense rainforest and beaches. This beautiful part of the world supports a large variety of birds including bowerbirds, white-bellied sea eagle and tawny frogmouths. Also keep an ear out for the Striped marsh frog which can be found near ponds and swamps, its distinct sound can be heard all year round.

Today we travel on the waters of Wallis Lake and both the Coolongolook and Wallamba rivers and will enjoy a catered picnic/barbecue at Coomba Park. We cruise through the canals of Foster Keys before arriving at Pacific Palms later in the afternoon. A coach transfer will take us to Bulahdelah – our home for the next two nights.

Overnight: Bulahdelah Motor Lodge

Day 3
Sunday 25th April 2021

ANZAC Day - Worship - Myall Lake - Boolambayte Lake Myall Shores - Myall River

We commemorate ANZAC Day with our own special Sunday service – “Lest we forget”.

This morning we transfer back to the northern shores of Lake Myall where our boat and crew will be waiting to take us on another day of exploring this wonderful area. We cross the Myall Lake and enter Boolambayte Lake and cruise to Bombah Point, a crossing point for the local ferry. Relax and enjoy lunch at this picturesque location before we cruise the waters of the Bombah Broadwater and then enter the beautiful Myall River. We travel over 20 kms upstream before we arrive back at Bulahdelah.

Overnight: Bulahdelah Motor Lodge

Day 4
Monday 26th April 2021

Nerong - Bombah Broadwater - Swan Bay - Tea Gardens Hawkes Nest

Another delightful day on the water as we cruise down the Myall River to Nerong. We pass over the southern waters of the Bombah Broadwater before once again entering the lower section of the Myall River. Soak up the surrounds of the glorious Myall Lakes National Park and its many beauty spots – we pass by Brambles Green, Cherry Tree, Engels Reach and Pipers Creek.
Mid-afternoon the river suddenly opens up into the attractive Swan Bay which is home to the holiday resort of Tea Gardens and its sister town of Hawks Nest. We berth in the small township of Tea Gardens, our home for the next two nights.

Overnight: Tea Gardens Motel

Day 5
Tuesday 27th April 2021

Port Stephens - Lemon Tree Passage - Karuah - Oyster Farm

A short cruise down the Myall River before it opens into the magnificent Port Stephens – “spectacular” is possibly the only way to describe this area. The clear waters are well known for the pods of resident bottlenose dolphins.

If we are very lucky, we may also spot a whale, early for their annual May – November migration, when thousands of humpback and other whales migrate through the marine park.

This vast bay is surrounded by 26 beautiful beaches and we pass well know spots such as Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay before cruising around Soldiers Point to Lemon Tree Passage. Enjoy a special lunch at a local waterside restaurant before we enter the Karuah River with its many oyster farms. These pristine waters are the largest farming area for the Sydney Rock Oyster which we will sample during our tour of an Oyster Farm in Karuah.

Mid-afternoon we bid farewell to our “Spirit” crew and enjoy some time at leisure to wander Tea Gardens.

Overnight: Tea Gardens Motel

Day 6
Wednesday 28th April 2021

Karuah - Home

We farewell the Lakes region and head to visit the beautiful Edogawa Commemorative Garden and Arts Centre on the Central Coast. This cleverly designed Japanese garden on the foreshore of Brisbane Water is well worth seeing. Enjoy a guided tour and, after lunch, you’ll also have time to browse the art gallery, gift shop, and the very reasonably priced pottery.

Time for goodbyes as our group splits up to journey back to Sydney or the Mid-North Coast.

We return home relaxed and with our spirits refreshed after a delightful getaway with like-minded people.
