In 2023 John & Jan Stead led our UK Celtic Pilgrimage fulfilling John’s passion to both share his knowledge and learn more about the early church in Ireland and the British Isles. In 2015 they hosted another CFT Faith Journey The Steps of Paul and experienced for themselves how meaningful it is to read scripture in the actual locations where events from the Bible occurred. In 2025 they will lead both our Norfolk Island and UK Celtic Pilgrimage holidays.
John studied theology at St Marks National Theological College in Canberra and was ordained in the Anglican Church as a deacon and priest, serving in NSW & ACT (Goulburn, Tumbarumba, Hackett and Wagga Wagga). Ordained as a Bishop, John served as an Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Bathurst before being elected as the Diocesan Bishop of Willochra (SA) in 2012, retiring in 2022. John remains very active within the church doing some parish locum work and being part of a ministry team leading worship and preaching in their Canberra parish. John also has a ministry in the pastoral supervision of clergy.
Jan has exercised her ministry by employing her artistic talents – music, photography, writing, and art – in the service of the church, including leading worship as part of the Music Ministry Team. After many years employed as a teacher (in schools, in a gaol and in tertiary education, particularly within the adult literacy and numeracy sphere), Jan found her purpose and passion working with and supporting dyslexics and other neurodiverse people and their families, a field in which she continues to work today.
John and Jan are excited to continue their involvement in growing people’s faith as CFT Tour Leaders and look forward to connecting and travelling with like-minded people on our Christian holidays.
